$10K Polartec Grant
October 6, 2010, 12:08 am
Got a wild idea for an expedition? For almost two decades, Polartec LLC has offered its International Polartec Challenge Grant to support expeditions and adventures around the globe. Applications for the $10,000 grant are now available for 2011 expeditions. Deadline to apply is November 1.
According to the company, grant applications are evaluated on the basis of “vision, commitment, educational and cultural value.” Polartec Challenge Grants have been awarded to adventurers who concocted trips to kayak in Antarctic waters, ski across Siberia, climb unnamed peaks, and trek through desert voids.
Past recipients of the grant read like a who’s-who of outdoor pioneers, including Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, Steve House, Marko Prezelj, Andrew McLean John Shipton, and Jordan Romero. As would be appropriate, in addition to grant money, winners are outfitted fully in Polartec outerwear and garments.
Note: The Polartec Challenge is not the appropriate venue for projects that involve competition or fund raising. But if you have an untamed river or a remote peak on your mind, sign up for the grant and take a step toward your dream. http://polartec.com/#/polartec-challenge/
