'SPOT the Holiday' Contests
November 24, 2010, 10:22 am
With Thanksgiving, “Black Friday,” and other holiday foshizzle coming to light this week, our big, bad ‘SPOT the Holiday’ promotion is humming! Indeed, we gave away a pair of SPOT Messenger Devices to two lucky attendees at Midwest Mountaineering’s Outdoor Adventure Expo last weekend, where GearJunkie Founder Stephen Regenold presented the ‘Top 10 Gear Awards’ onstage at the University of Minnesota’s Cowles Auditorium. In a mini live “treasure hunt,” we hid certificates in the auditorium, and attendees at the cue searched frantically in aisles and under seats to locate the prize!
Online, in a different type of treasure hunt, Seth Neilson of Vancouver, Wash., also won a SPOT device + 1 Year of Service for sending (re-tweeting) the correct message (and then winning in a drawing!) last week. That’s Seth below, elated, on a mountain peak. He is a father of four and a self-employed graphic designer with a “love to get out as often as possible climbing, hiking, backpacking, geocaching, and snowboarding,” he says. Congrats, Seth!
But don’t feel left out. We’re running a new Twitter contest online right now — details here: ‘SPOT the Holiday’ — plus we have some REALLY BIG THINGS! to give away early next month. (Hint: Can you say “Vibram FiveFingers shoes” and “Old Town Canoe”!) Stay tuned. The contest runs through New Year’s Day, and we have lots of prizes to go. Get connected via GearJunkie’s Facebook and Twitter. Then monitor the site for SPOT-sponsored contests and your chance to win!
