Three major brands and two outdoor orgs are uniting to get a certain demographic outside.
Oboz, Osprey, and Outdoor Research have teamed up with the 52 Hike Challenge series to launch a sponsorship program aimed at getting an “older” demographic outside. The Over 50 Outside program will kick off by sponsoring 150 women over the age of 50 who are passionate about the outdoors. Basically, if you like hiking and are over 50, this program is for you.
The Over 50 Outside sponsorship will not only empower participants to get out on the trails weekly (hence the “52” challenge — there are 52 weeks in a year) but offers other perks as well.
Those chosen for the program will receive:
- A 52 Hike Challenge “Ultimate Package” (essentially, swag)
- Monthly inspirational check-ins
- Advice on gear
- Sessions on nutrition, strength and conditioning, and more
- Perks from Oboz, Osprey, and Outdoor Research sponsors
The goal? Get outdoors and hike once a week. “You’ll gain the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional benefits of hiking,” wrote 52 Hike Challenge founders. And you’ll do so surrounded by a community of similarly aged, like-minded adventurers.
Applications are open now through August 15, 2021. (Participants will be selected during the last week of August.) This is a year-long program that will launch in September 2021.
Women-identifying hikers (over 50, of course) of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
