Hikers faced a confrontation with a naked man while trekking in White Mountain National Forest this weekend, New Hampshire officials said.
Authorities in New Hampshire arrested a 35-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly threatening hikers in White Mountain National Forest — in the buff.
New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said they received a notification about the problem at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, according to the group’s Facebook page.
Hikers reported a man accosting them at the Zealand Hut near Bethlehem, officials said. State conservation officers and a U.S. Forest Service official hiked 2.7 miles to investigate.
When the officers arrived, they located a “highly agitated” naked male on the roof of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Zealand Hut, officials said.
Just why he was there, no one seems to know.
“The officers spent over an hour deescalating the situation and attempting to get the male off the roof,” according to the report from New Hampshire Fish and Game. “Officers were eventually able to talk the man off the roof and escort him back to the Zealand Trailhead parking lot, arriving at 10 p.m.”
Officials identified the man as Brian Cheverier of Boylston, Mass. Authorities said they arrested Cheverier and charges are pending.
No one was injured, and the Appalachian Mountain Club has resumed operations at the hut, officials said. Further details weren’t available as of this writing, but Facebook commenters left a slew of varied responses.
“Imagine being so disgruntled that the cops hike 3 miles into the middle of the woods just to come arrest you,” one proposed. “Bug bites must have been horrendous,” said another.

This guy. Try as we might, GearJunkie still hasn’t found a less cumbersome hiking kit.
