An avalanche destroyed a chairlift at Crystal Mountain near Mount Rainier in Enumclaw, Wash., on Monday, March 10. This video, a mix of footage from a ski patroller’s phone seconds after the slide and helicopter and drone shots from the following day, shows the carnage.
Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the avalanche, which was set off intentionally after the resort was closed to the public. The High Campbell lift, known as chair six, was destroyed in the slide that was much larger than expected. —Sean McCoy
