Career Highlights
A Word From Taneika Duhaney
After working in clinical dentistry for several years, I transitioned to health policy to effect change in a sustaining manner. My work as a policy writer eventually shifted into health and sports writing. Now, writing provides me the opportunity to merge my passions–storytelling and outdoor exploration. Like many people, I turned to the outdoors during the pandemic in search of some degree of normalcy. On slower bike rides, I would journal small tidbits along the way.
These notes helped me to reflect on what mattered most, reevaluate where I wanted to go and prioritize future aspirations outside the corporate ladder. Afforded the time to explore my deepest interests, my life shifted from living vicariously through others to intentional presence. I rode further than I ever imagined, raced trails, paddled creeks, and camped along routes I would never have encountered otherwise. In anticipation of pandemic restrictions easing I decided to live out loud by pursuing and sharing my passions.
My work spans the gamut–health, policy, and news. Additionally, I share my experiences of outdoor recreation, life challenges, and exploration with the aim of inspiring others to get outdoors and connect with others. To that end, I take the time to connect with readers, learn from other perspectives, and share positive experiences.
