Burton debuted its uniform design for the 2014 Olympics and the U.S. Snowboarding Team today. Corduroy, synthetic fabrics, as well as a new kind of waterproof/breathable membrane make for outerwear unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
The brand touts an “heirloom hippy” aesthetic with the uniforms. There are mitts, beanies, and hoodies included as well as the jackets and pants.
On the design, the company notes inspiration from “snowboarding’s laid-back culture while paying respect to America’s longstanding creative heritage.” No doubt the quilt look was stick out on the slopes in Sochi next year. —Stephen Regenold
