Pay a subscription, and rope, compasses, multi-tools, and other hand-selected, Scouting-themed outdoors necessities ship to your door each month. SCOUTbox is designed specifically for scouts, but the items extend beyond acquiring badges.
Frustrated with the task of acquiring new gear for each badge, Eagle Scouts Will and Chris Tarantino sought an alternative. They created SCOUTbox, a gear subscription service for scouts, by scouts.
When you sign up for SCOUTbox you get a monthly delivery of gear fit for scouting and badge related tasks. One month might bring rope for practicing knots, a multi-tool, and a hackysack. The next will be completely different.
The boxes start at $40, with reduced costs for a longer-term subscription. The contents equal more than $40 worth of gear.
SCOUTbox: Monthly Outdoors Gear
The boxes are tailored for specific badge-related tasks. The April kit comes with rope and knot tying instructions to learn and acquire the knot tying badge.
While not yet available, the company plans to release rank-specific boxes, so different level scouts can ascend the ranks more efficiently. They also plan to release girl scout boxes.
Beyond the realm of scouting, these boxes teach lessons appropriate for any budding outdoors aficionado. Knot skills are great for everyone, as are most scout badge-related lessons.
