Warm When Wet — I put The North Face Thremoball Jacket though a serious wet test, dunking it in a river before hiking in a Colorado winter storm. The results were amazing as the jacket kept me warm and cozy and even dried out in the biting wind and falling snow. Thermoball insulation is available in lots of models; I tested the Full Zip Jacket ($200) and it is one of my favorite insulating layers. You probably want to wear it with a shell in temps below about 20 degrees F or in high winds.
