Armstrong-Approved Stationary Bike
October 21, 2009
It may not get you a spot on a pro team, but at least now you can train like a pro. The Livestrong LS9.9IC stationary cycle is a feature-rich training bike approved by Lance Armstrong himself. And while not confirmed, Lance purportedly used it for rehab prior to the Tour de France.
The Livestrong bike has a vertically and horizontally adjustable LS Air Flight saddle and a height-adjustable handlebar with numerous hand grip positions. The bike is designed for comfort while providing a realistic feel, the company says.
The company touts the trainer as having a smooth, consistent ride. It uses a 40-pound flywheel and a Kevlar belt drive. Resistance is adjusted using a cantilevered brake system. Contact grips for heart-rate monitoring are included on the handlebar.
It has an LCD readout to show heart rate, RPM and speed. The display also allows you to view calories burned and ride time.
The cycle is currently available at a variety of retailers, including DICK’s Sporting Goods, for $999. Part of the proceeds on each unit sold go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. www.livestrongfitness.com
