It’s not that I don’t believe the research showing that exercising consistently without recovery time can lead to decreased strength gains and possibly injury. It’s just that finding the time to take these breaks is hard. Needless to say, when a product that promised multitasking recovery benefits rolled across my desk, I was intrigued, especially since it came from a brand long-trusted by elite athletes.
The Roll Recovery SUPERPLUSH Classic Shoes, available in men’s and women’s versions, are billed as “easy-to-slip-on” footwear “engineered to relieve tired feet.” Given the lack of laces and stretchy upper material, it was clear just from the photos that these kicks would slide on without a problem. As for relieving tired feet? That would take testing to confirm.
Now, after wearing the Classics for 3 months on local trips to Boulder, through New York City’s concrete jungle, and around Scottsdale, Arizona’s upscale dining scene, my skepticism is waning.
In short: The Roll Recovery SUPERPLUSH Classic Shoes might be built to deliver recovery benefits to elite and everyday athletes alike, but that’s just their hidden superpower. These shoes also look good enough that you won’t just feel like you should wear them post-workout; you’ll actually want to. For camping, après, walking around the neighborhood, and even going out to dinner, these recovery slippers are ideal.
