After a long day of riding, it feels great to sit back and soak in a hot tub. Now you can have that hot tub anywhere you can ride your bike (or paddle your canoe).
Ok, maybe it’s not practical, but the Dutchtub by Floris Schoonderbeek is portable, wood heated, and, at least according to photos from the company, towable by bike or boat.
Sure, you’ll have to grow some tree-trunk legs to haul the 165-pound, polyester cauldron around on steep mountain double-track (don’t even think about singletrack), but man, think of how popular you’ll be at the campground.
The company’s marketing copy makes this thing sound like heaven-on-Earth: With the Dutchtub you can go explore and enjoy the essence of outdoor bathing.
It continues, This hot tub is a pure luxury and works surprisingly simple: wood fired and with a natural circulation. With this construction and the sturdy, long-lasting materials you can use the Dutchtub anytime, anywhere.
Just one catch: The made-in-Holland tub will set you back a healthy $5,600 — enough to book a few years’ worth of luxury lodging, hot tubs in every room.
But that’s not the point. This is a tub you can tote into the wilderness, onto trails, and take anywhere.
