British “snow artist” Simon Beck stomps around in powder to create huge patterns with intricate, compass-orientated lines. The news this week, Icebreaker will soon make underwear featuring Beck’s snow designs.

We covered the artwork of Simon Beck last month. His partnership with New Zealand wool garment manufacturer Icebreaker is called “The Art Of Nature” project.

The collaboration will include 20 garments with Beck’s designs, all of which were created as he walked in the snow of the Alps with snowshoes and compass.

Walking extremely carefully, Beck can spend up to 11 hours laying down the patterned tracks. Since he began in 2004, Beck has created a range of designs, from festive snowflakes to three-dimensional squares, to star bursts and spirograph patterns.

A dollar from the sale of each garment adorned with Beck’s design will be donated to Protect Our Winters, a non-profit dedicated to mobilizing the winter sports community to lead the fight against climate change.

The “Simon Beck for Icebreaker” collection, which has men’s and women’s long and short-sleeved tops (and a “hipkini” brief for women), will be available starting in October, 2014 at outdoor retailers and on Icebreaker.com.
