Even if you’re not a serious ice skater, this video will make you want to strap on a pair of blades and glide across a frozen lake.

This video by Paxson Woelber and Cale Green portrays the sport of “backcountry skating.” The athletes hunt for “wild” ice on rivers, lakes, glacial lagoons, even inside ice caves.

The team filmed the video “Wild Ice” for two winters in south-central and southeast Alaska. You might recognize Kenai Lake, Portage Lagoons, Turnagain Arm, Portage Glacier, and more stunning locations.
