Skiing has dramatically evolved over the past 50 years. In this video, Redbull reflects on each generation’s signature style.

Remember Ski Ballet? Redbull’s latest endeavor documents the past 50 years of Freeskiing. Popularized in the 1960s, an improvement in ski equipment allowed for different movements and styles to develop. The style of sport has taken so many leaps in style, each generation’s unique look is clearly recognizable.

World Cup Freeskiing

Freeskiing within the World Cup contains six disciplines: aerials, ski cross, halfpipe, slopestyle, big air, and moguls. And as we can clearly tell from the video, it has had quite the evolution.

What started as ballerina-like dances down the hill are now full-fledged productions, with helicopters and impossible-looking stunts.

By watching how clearly the sport changed within the last 50 years has us itching to see what the next 50 years will look like.
