Salomon is bringing its popular European event series, CITYTRAIL, to the United States this spring. The first of three U.S. urban trail-running events will kick off in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sunday, May 18th.

The CITYTRAIL Loppet has 10-mile and 10-kilometer races. Like all CITYTRAIL events, it does not take the well-worn path but instead will be a part-pavement, part-trail run that “goes under highways and interstates, over railroad yards, around lakes and past spectacular views of downtown to a finish in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden,” as organizers from the Loppet Foundation put it.

GearJunkie is hosting a special, invite-only CITYTRAIL race before the Loppet race next week on April 24th. See all the details on our GearJunkie CITYTRAIL event here.

Two other CITYTRAIL races will be held in 2014 in San Francisco and Chattanooga, respectively on September 27th and November 8th.

The CITYTRAIL races and events are linked to a product line launch and a CITYTRAIL app.

We’ll demo the gear at the GearJunkie/Salomon event next week and use the app as a part of the race. Suunto is the official timing partner and will manage the race start and finish times at each event.
