Showers Pass touts a “race cut” design, and indeed on a ride the Skyline fits close and feels performance-oriented with zero flapping in the wind.
Made of a slightly stretchy material, the jacket is comfortable on the bike and off. Its angled front zipper scoots around the chin to avoid contact.
Large-tooth zippers on the jacket make it easy to zip even while riding — no tugging or two-hand menuvers needed.
Showers Pass adds 3M Scotchlite reflective material all around so that light bounces off sharply on dark rides, keeping you more visible.
One unique feature: There’s a tiny vent on the upper back that opens with a zipper. It lets you air out when overheating by offering an air “intake valve” of sorts for a rider in a tuck.
Overall, the $180 Skyline performed great. It’s more a winter jacket than a rain shell, though it can stand up to drizzle and even short downpours when the sky opens unexpectedly on your ride.
