Earlier this year, German bike manufacturer Nicolai released its Gates belt drive Argon FAT. To keep the muck out, they paired the FAT with a Pinion drivetrain — a rugged “gearbox” that gives you 18 gears, all encased in a crud-citadel.

In this video, 2014 Swiss BMX champion David Graf reminds us that it’s time to winterize the roady, dust off the fat bike and get ready for that first dump of fall snow (which has already hit much of the country).

Graf’s bike appears to be running a Rohloff internal speed hub with this Argon FAT. Watch as he effortlessly floats this 5lb frame over a Swiss mountainside.
