Cycling Through Addiction: Check Out ‘Riders in Recovery’

Substance addiction can threaten or take an addict’s life. If you’re stuck in the cycle, how do you dig out?

Griffin and Cullen Easter know what heroin addiction looks like. After learning that their cousin was struggling with the drug, they searched for answers.

“It had got to his point where it’s not ‘if’ — we’re thinking, ‘When is something bad going to happen?’” Cullen says in the video.

Tragically, their cousin passed away. But through the Easters’ grieving and healing process, they did find a method of accountability that they hope can help countless people experiencing addiction.

Their Riders in Recovery program started with one individual. Through a partnership with the Belgian Waffle Ride, the program began in earnest this year. Learn how cycling can help heal the effects of opioid abuse in this short vid.

If you or someone you know is experiencing drug addiction, help is available. You can find a collection of resources on opioid addiction, including hotlines, at Or, call the National SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357.
