In this short edit, Santa Cruz’s new 5010 mountain bike gets an upgrade. But not like you think.
Remember those finger skateboards from the 90s? And how could we forget the nation-sweeping trend of Tiny Tents? Due to coronavirus, Santa Cruz couldn’t do an all-out sizzle reel for its newest bike, the 5010. So the brand got creative and went tiny instead.
And people are loving it.
About the bike: The Santa Cruz 5010 has long been a popular option for progressive mountain bike riders. The updated 5010 has a redesigned geometry, and a new fork and wheels.
Santa Cruz’s launch video plays into the “tiny toy” and “mini bike” trend. The finger rider takes on singletrack, jumps, manuals, and even takes a few spills. There’s pretty impressive tiny POV footage, and everything’s made to mini-bike scale.
According to the brand, the Santa Cruz 5010 turns obstacles into features. It’s got a nimble, poppy feel, “fun-sized” wheels, and the capability to hop, skip, and jump to the rider’s content. And that’s whether your feet or fingers are on the pedals.
In short, it’s one of the most creative bike videos we’ve seen. And if there’s anything to learn, it’s that people love tiny.
