A surfer gets caught in one of the heaviest waves in the world, and boy does he take it on the chin.

Surfers widely regard Teahupo’o as one of the heaviest waves in the world. And when one huge set rolls in, the entire lineup sprints to avoid getting worked by the wave. But at least one surfer comes up short.

Watch this video by Aaron Lieber as an unknown surfer dives deep to try and avoid the wave but gets caught in the current. You can see his board and body getting ripped “over the falls.”

According to Lieber, the man survived. But wow, that one could not have been pleasant.
