Beer brings cheer, and wine is fine. But once liquor gets involved, it can get a little complicated. Whether you pour it neat in the outdoors or are on the lookout for new recipes, this video is for you.
These recipes are loose at best — isn’t that what camping is all about, anyway? Add more or less liquor to strengthen or weaken your drink to your liking.
GearJunkie’s Favorite Camp Cocktails
1. Spiked Hot Chocolate: Cold Night Special
Ingredients: Fireball (or your favorite cinnamon whiskey) or Peppermint Schnapps, hot chocolate mix, and water
Directions: Bring water to a boil, pour contents of the hot chocolate pack into your glass, and add liquor. Easy!
2. Pine-Infused Whiskey: For the Earthy Ones
Ingredients: Pine needles and whiskey
Directions: Crack, rub, and break the pine needles to release the essential oils. Add pine needles to your glass, then whiskey.
3. Camp Margarita: ‘Cause All You Have Is Time
Ingredients: Lime, sugar, tequila, triple sec — and don’t forget the ice
Directions: Squeeze several limes into the glass. Add tequila and triple sec using a 3:2 ratio. Boil water with sugar to create simple syrup. The ratio for water to sugar is 1:1. Add simple syrup to the glass, cover, and shake. Add a lime wedge for garnish.
