For Cody Townsend’s latest episode of ‘The FIFTY’ project, he’s joined by his freeride skier wife Elyse Saugstad.
Trust us, this isn’t your average couple’s getaway. Ski legend Cody Townsend is halfway through his project of skiing the 50 most classic ski descents in North America.
And for this episode, he has a special companion: his wife (who’s also a rad skier). The duo ventures out to ski the Sickle line in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho.
Challenges include tricky drop-ins, a narrow line, and, of course, knowing how to work together as partners. It’s the ultimate test of mountaineering, skiing, and getting along (this goes for on and off the mountain).
So if you’re stuck with your spouse at home and having a tough time with decision-making, “camp” duties, or anything of the like, know that you’re not alone. We’ve all got stuff going on, but let’s hope the obstacles you’re facing aren’t as big as these couloirs.
Whether or not you ski, this episode is an inspiration. And we’ll all hopefully have the chance to get back out to mountains like these with our significant others soon.
