The unlikely footwear phenomenon rages on! Despite the recent resignation of company CEO Tony Post, Vibram FiveFingers shoes remain almost as popular as ever. This week, the brand announced a new “foot glove” model to debut this fall, the Seeya LS, which is advertised as a “stylish streetwear cross trainer,” whatever that exactly means.
With one iteration of the shoe featuring hot-pink accents and the brand’s signature articulated toe slots, the SeeYa LS, like many VFF models, look more like clown shoes than something you’d see on a runner. (Hilarious aside: Vibram advertises this shoe as a “fashion-conscious model.”)
But barefoot-running fanatics will no doubt embrace the Seeya LS for its close fit and extra lightweight build, which measures around 5 ounces a foot.
Beyond its fashion purpose, the SeeYa is a “streamlined” road shoe, Vibram cites, which was designed for the experienced minimalist runner who has honed a light-on-the-feet stride.
It fastens on with traditional shoelaces. There are suede overlays on a non-stretch polyester mesh upper. Underfoot, there’s a 2mm EVA insole and grippy rubber on the outsole.
The Seeya LS will be sold to men and women and will come in several color combinations. It will be available in the fall for $100. Fashion mavens of a certain type and barefoot freaks are likely to line up in droves.
