[leadin]Over the past few years, we’ve seen lots of inventors tackling the illusive hoverboard with lots of different approaches. A new one from the company Flyboard may now be leading the pack.[/leadin]
Editor’s note: Many commenters on the video and other sites have called this a far-fetched idea, or an outright hoax. But while researching the above video, GearJunkie uncovered another video shot by a bystander, below. We’ve reached out to the company for comment, and so far have received not response. This article will be updated as details emerge.
In the video above, you can watch as Franky Zapata puts the Flyboard Air to the test. With a screaming engine, the company claims the Flyboard Air can reach a ridiculous altitude of 10,000 feet and hit 93.2 miles per hour. It only has a 10 minute flight time, so if you aim for the sky, you probably best get back to earth fast!

Few details are available on how the Flyboard Air functions, but the company, Zapata Racing, already manufactures and sells Flyboards that work using water as propulsion for use in lakes. It says this is just a prototype, and it won’t be for sale for a while, but if real a crazy flying board is not that far off.
