GoPro today announced its smallest camera yet, the Hero4 Session. Here we break the cube-shape camera down for a first look.
50% smaller than existing models, the Hero4 Session is a barely-there camera that still packs impressive imaging in a waterproof body.
HERO4 Session captures 1080p60, 720p100, and 1440p30 video along with 8-megapixel still photos. All this fits in a 1.5″ x 1.5″ x 1.4″ package that weighs three ounces.
Tiny Upgrade
It has many of the same capabilities as the HERO4 Black and Silver cameras, including SuperView, Protune and Auto Low Light recording modes.
An expanded set of controls and settings can be accessed when using the GoPro App or Smart Remote.
Check out the sample video here to see what this pint-size GoPro can do.
The Hero4 Session is waterproof to 33 feet (10 meters) and is compatible with GoPro’s array of mounts.
Audio Enhancements
A dual microphone system dynamically switches sound recording between microphones to reduce wind noise during activities, the company notes.
Audio performance during water-based activities has been improved thanks to HERO4 Session’s waterproof design, which the company says eliminates the need for a separate water housing, which can often muffle sounds.
HERO4 Session will cost $399.99 beginning July 12, 2015. See below for full specs straight from GoPro.
