This week Boeing introduced the world to microlattice through the video above, and we’re already dreaming about the potential applications to products like bicycles, helmets, skis… the list of possibilities is really staggering.

Microlattice is the lightest metallic structure ever made. At 99.99% air, it’s light enough to balance on top of a dandelion, while its structure makes it strong. Strength and record breaking lightness make it a potential metal for future planes and vehicles.

Indeed, there’s some fascinating stuff being developed by researchers these days.
