When you need to hit a few groomers before and after finding your favorite pow stash, the Black Diamond Justice skis will get you there. Despite a semi-fat 115mm waist (for the 185cm size ski) and a powder-specific geometry, BD claims its new skis are designed to conquer the entire mountain.
This is a claim often stated. But the BD skis have a unique rocker tip and minimal camber, which makes them suitable for a wider demographic of rider. As a rockered ski — generally a ski with a reverse camber so it’s shaped like a rocking chair rail when no weight is on it — the Justice is easier to control in soft snow.
The company touts it as a less aggressive version of its big-mountain powder ski — the Megawatt — with the Justice being built for the “everyman,” the company says.
It has a wood core, sintered base and dampening technology that utilizes a sway bar at the nose to dampen vibration. All of this is said to keep a skier cruising through whatever the mountain throws in the way.
The Black Diamond Justice skis are available now in 175cm (138-111-123) and 185cm (140-115-125) lengths for $730. www.blackdiamondequipment.com
