My friend and trip mate from Vermont, Berne Broudy, published a short piece in Skiing Magazine last month about the trip we took to ski tour Norway’s Romsdal Alps last March. It’s online now here: https://www.skinet.com/travel/2008-11/untracked-line-fjords-norway (That’s me in red on the deck of the Anne Margrethe, a restored 70-foot “jakt” built in 1880.)

Broudy’s story, “Untracked Line: The Fjords of Norway,” covers life on the ship as well as some of our ski-touring adventures on peaks like Kyrkjetaket, a kicker-shaped 4,750-foot mountain above a fjord. Writes Broudy: “By the time we summit, the sun has burned a hole through the soupy gray clouds and the snow is corning up. I pick my way through rocks, jump-turn through summit crust, and drop into the cream, slicing through large scenery and vast snowfields that roll into the guts of the drainage.” That’s pretty much how I remember it, too.
