It’s long been fairly common knowledge in cycling circles that traditional bike seats are not your best friends for maintaining health and happiness in the land down under. And both men and women can suffer from the ill effects of soft tissue squished upon a bike saddle.
But a crop of radical new saddles—some with deep grooves cut out up the middle, others with missing noses—has been built over the last couple years to address issues ranging from tissue desensitization (women) and, most prominently, erectile dysfunction (men).
And the topic has not gone on without the attention of mainstream researchers.
As Becher wrote in the LA Times story, seen in full here, more than two dozen studies have now been published that confirm the connection between cycling and sexual dysfunction.
Ride with caution!
