Hanging chairs are nothing new, but the Chammock looks like it might be a great camp chair for hikers with weight and size limits.
It hangs like a hammock, gives the support of a chair, and it takes up little pack real estate.
Made from rip-stop nylon, the Chammock can be hung between any two supports at least 4 feet apart.
The sides of the chair are open so you’re not likely to get that “cocooned” feeling while sitting, and you can hang your arms out.
It comes with a small pocket that you can stuff to use as a pillow while sitting.
Weighing in at 9.5 ounces, it packs smaller than a mini iPad. Each hammock comes with two aluminum carabiners and, for a little extra, you get a set of tree-safe straps.
The company doesn’t mention a specific weight range, instead preferring to measure it with 10,000 “sitting cycles” of a 264-pound person. So you’re in uncharted waters if you happen to be heavier than that.
I often bring a hammock hiking to string up as a chair; the Chammock is lighter and more portable than camp chairs, and it should be more comfortable than a hammock for sitting.
