Backpack, Wallet Made From Scraps
November 02, 2009
Where does an old tent go when it dies? It gets recycled into other useful gear — at least at Nemo Equipment. The New Hampshire-based tent maker uses its old tents and scraps to create the Ditto line, including wallets and backpacks.
The backpack, made primarily from old Hypno PQ and Sako tents, weighs just 6.8 ounces. While it’s not huge — its dimensions are about 12 × 9 × 24 inches with 1,200 cubic inches of capacity — the pack folds into an integrated stuff sack slightly larger than a grapefruit.
Much like the backpack, the Ditto Wallet is made from various tents and scraps. The bi-fold wallet has a clear plastic ID window, slots to put some credit cards, a zippered coin pouch, and a Velcro closure. Of course it has a spot to stash your cash, too.
The Ditto backpack sells for $50. The wallet should be available within the next couple months for $18. www.nemoequipment.com

@UrbanGearDaddy Trail runs in the TC area? Try some of the 3 Rivers parks (Hyland good) or the MN River Bottoms. Afton State Park, too.
