Watch: 46-Inch Muskie Caught (on 6-Pound Test Line)

Crappie angler Scott Mackner wasn’t planning to land a lunker when he hooked into this monster muskie.

Mackner was crappie fishing with ultralight equipment. Early in the video, he says he has 8-pound line. But later he discusses his gear: 6-pound line and an ultralight 6′ 6″ rod.

The fight starts under a bridge when a muskie grabs a hooked crappie. As the video shows, it was a tough 10-minute fight to land the big fish.

But Mackner (barely) fits it into his net before snapping a photo and releasing the beast to live another day.
