Wahoo’s cycling trainers populate the pain caves of pros and joes alike. Now, the company is making a move in the software space with a new app.
Today, Wahoo announced it will launch a proprietary cycling training app to accompany its popular trainers. Wahoo SYSTM takes a thorough approach to training, including not just cycling but also swimming, yoga, running, and bodyweight workouts. The app also helps athletes train mentally and structure their activities with an assisted program builder.
The Wahoo Sports Science Division, led by legendary coach and sports scientist Neal Henderson, designs each workout and training plan. Those in the know see SYSTM as an improvement over The Sufferfest, which Wahoo acquired in 2019.

“When Wahoo acquired The Sufferfest, we knew we had a real opportunity to revolutionize the way people train,” said David McQuillen, founder of The Sufferfest and Wahoo’s head of training services.
“We set out to build the most comprehensive training app available — incorporating engaging content, the best sports science, useful training tips delivered in plain language, and tools that empower athletes across the spectrum to achieve their unique fitness goals.”
SYSTM App Features Immerse You in Cycling
Everyone knows that training inside can suck, especially when the weather outside is enticing. Acknowledging that obstacle, Wahoo focused on making SYSTM engaging and immersive. App features include:
- The Sufferfest: Pro race footage, “driving” soundtracks, and workouts with their own storylines. Served with a dose of humor.
- On Location: Guided tours of some of cycling’s most iconic routes.
- ProRides: Race simulations that combine first-person camera footage from pro races with elite riders’ power files, scaled to the user’s 4DP profile (The Sufferfest’s fitness assessment and power target algorithm).
- A Week With: Offers the opportunity to train with Wahoo athletes for a week. “Go behind the scenes and see how they live and work.”
- Inspiration: Cycling films and documentaries matched to recovery and endurance workouts.
