Seelye Family Farm — At over 9,000 feet above sea level, Las Vueltas Lodge is a paradise built by Andy Seelye. He harvested the wood himself from fallen trees on their 100+ acre cloud forest reserve and milled them onsite. To top it off, Seelye built a hydroelectric system from an old generator he found buried in the dirt. That’s resourceful!
At the lodge you will wake in the morning and milk cows for a frothy addition to your cup of organic coffee, which was grown by their neighbors down the road. Enjoy their homemade cheese and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, with fresh eggs from their chickens.
Hike the trails that Andy and his five sisters built over decades, climbing trees, swinging on vines, and exploring the fascinating habitat all the way up to high altitude paramo forest. Then come back home and catch trout for dinner from their pond before relaxing by the fire as the mist settles in for the evening and night.
