W.L. Gore & Associates and the GORE–TEX brand launched a new online community today — MyExperienceMore.com — which includes a forum for active and adventurous types to communicate with one another and share their outdoor experiences via photos, videos and message boards. Says Melissa Riggs of Gore’s Fabric Marketing division: “We are simply providing a means through which these individuals can be inspired and energized by their peers.”
No doubt. I took a peek at the site and clicked immediately to Kim Reynolds’ description of her ascent of “Ames Ice Hose,” a serious three-pitch WI5 ice route in Colorado. Reynolds writes: “For my 50th birthday, I decided to lead all of the classic backcountry ice climbs in the San Juan’s, which by the way, is my backyard. Ames was the first one on my list.” Stout!
In addition to the community facet, MyExperienceMore.com includes the “Experience More Challenge,” an online contest in which site members submit photos of themselves “experiencing more” in the outdoors. The online community will rate these experiences. Finalists will receive GORE–TEX gear, and the winner will get up to $10,000 towards planning his/her dream experience.
Sign up for a free MyExperienceMore.com account and you get a personal page, special promotions on Gore-based products, and updates on events and fundraisers around the country where you might “experience more” yourself.
