National Geographic released a three-minute trailer of Alex Honnold’s free solo of El Cap’s Freerider Route. It looks absolutely epic.
Last year, Honnold completed the hardest ropeless climb in history. The Freerider route ascends 3,000 feet with sections as hard as 5.13.
“Free Solo,” the upcoming movie by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, documents Hannold’s rigorous climb. Vasarhelyi and Chin are the masterminds behind the alpine film, Meru.
The documentary on Honnold will premiere in theaters this fall with screenings listed on the movie’s website. As of right now, the page doesn’t display screening times and locations. We will update this article when the listings are posted.
