More on the Prizes

Prize package:

  • Ultralight 110 V-Neck Alpaca Wool Shirt (Men’s or Women’s): Made for the outdoors, traveling, and everyday use, the Ultralight 110 V-Neck Alpaca Wool Shirt is made from 100% alpaca wool that is breathable and antibacterial, according to the brand. The 110 on the label refers to the weight of this semi-hollow-fibered wool. Compared to sheep’s wool, alpaca is naturally smoother, ensuring softness without the itch, according to Arms of Andes. This shirt is also free of plastics and synthetic dyes and is biodegradable, so you can feel good about your shirt’s effect (or lack thereof) on the environment.
  • Lightweight 230 Alpaca Wool Gloves: These Alpaca Wool gloves bring the comfort of wool to your hands on cool winter days. These 230-weight gloves can be layered with other gloves or mittens for added warmth. Made to dry quickly, take these on your next climbing, hiking, trail running, or backpacking adventure. Like the brand’s other alpaca wool products, these gloves are biodegradable and free of synthetic dyes and plastics.
  • Midweight 420 Alpaca Wool Leggings (Men’s or Women’s): The heaviest-weight prize of this giveaway, the 420 Alpaca Wool leggings are made to keep your legs warm both on their own and under another layer. These leggings wick moisture, regulate body temperate, and resist odor, according to the brand. Like the brand’s other alpaca wool products, these leggings are biodegradable and free of synthetic dyes and plastics.

More on the Brand

Alpacas have been adapting to the ever-changing weather of the Andes Mountains, and that’s what the brand aims to emulate. Arms of Andes was founded by a sibling duo from Los Angeles who grew up under the influence of Peruvian parents.

Each vacation was a trip to explore their ancestral home, and they were fascinated by the contrast between the two cultures. The siblings claim that because of alpaca wool’s adaptability benefits, it’s ideal for outdoor adventures.

Every product made at Arms and Andes is 100% biodegradable due to the brand’s commitment to natural materials. To keep the company’s carbon footprint low, it kept manufacturing in Peru rather than shipping across multiple countries. In Peruvian culture, family is a major cornerstone. This is reflected in the brand’s name: “’Arms’ is a combination of the first name initials of us four siblings, and our roots are ‘of the Andes,'” the founders said.
