When Laura was eighteen, she packed a bag, walked to the highway, and hitchhiked away. She spent the next year thumbing rides across the US and Mexico. This was the start of a lifelong adventure that spanned twenty years.
Since then, Laura has guided treks across volcano ranges, deckhanded sailboats in unruly seas, hitchhiked twice across Latin America, cycled nearly 18,000 miles on long-distance routes, and backpacked for months in swamps, deserts, mountains, and forests around the world. She’s spent over a thousand nights in her tent.
Laura now works as a nomadic freelance writer. Her stories appear frequently in print and online for publications like Bicycling Magazine, Adventure Cycling, and Adventure Cyclist. Laura is the creator of Laura’s Stories, a unique, thoughtful newsletter to spark your spirit of adventure.
