Utah’s Wasatch Crest is a beauty and — at times — a beast of a trail. Ride it free with a little help from ENVE.

In the ENVE Takeover Series, the Utah-founded bike and component fabricator buys up a bunch of passes to a famous park, trail, or ride — then invites everybody to join in for free.

On Oct. 1, the Takeover lands at Big Cottonwood Canyon outside Salt Lake City, just miles down the road from ENVE’s founding town of Ogden.

In the event, ENVE will show up with a fleet of shuttle vans at the Canyons and Park City Mountain Resort parking lots. It’s making 80 passes available, which give riders access to Guardsman Pass and the 30 trails it supports (per the booking site).

That includes the crown jewel of the place: The relatively moderate, highly picturesque 12.5-mile Wasatch Crest affords 360-degree views the whole way.

The singletrack route does demand some techy riding, with grades up to 26%. But with an average grade of 6%, it amounts to a mellow, scenic romp.

ENVE Takeover Series: Free MTB Pass

To get your hands on a pass, all you have to do is book a start time between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Your pass buys you access to a day of riding plus food, gear demos, “banter,” and more, ENVE says.

It’s all pretty much teed up. Sign up with promo code CRESTENVEOCT1, then bring yourself and your bike to the 7-Eleven at Canyons Village in Park City Mountain Resort.

Get there 20 minutes before your scheduled takeoff time and you’re golden.

What more do we need to say? More to the point, what are you waiting for? Actually, what am waiting for?
