‘The Swim’ documents Ben Lecomte’s longest swim distance yet — 5,000 miles.
Watch long-distance swimmer (and we mean long distance) Ben Lecomte swim 5,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean. The journey took Lacomte approximately 6 months, swimming from Tokyo to San Francisco.
The purpose of the feat was to raise awareness of ocean pollution, which he has been doing for a few years now. In 2019, Lecomte swam 300 nautical miles — 8 hours a day for about 3 months — through the Pacific Ocean’s Great Pacific Garbage Patch as part of that work.
Lecomte, a beast of a swimmer, is qualified for this type of insane attempt. As far back as 1998, he became the first man to swim across the Atlantic Ocean.
