[leadin]Wood-burning camp stoves are a niche item in North America, but they’re used the world over for cooking and heating in tents.[/leadin]

Frontier Plus Camp Stove

Frontier Stoves has a humanitarian background. They were first developed for use in disaster zones as a sustainable heating and cooking stove. More than 12,000 of the original Frontier Stoves have been sent to out to people in need worldwide, according to the company.

But the obvious use as a camp stove has spurred Frontier to develop the brand’s latest, larger iteration, the Frontier Plus. It is made to be used in wall tents.

The Frontier Plus has a 4″ flue, glass window, and an air intake control. It folds down, storing the flue inside the main stove body for transport, and the legs fold into the body for a compact package.

The company calls the stove “lightweight” but has not released a number. It’s probably not something you’d want to strap to a backpack but is portable enough to carry a few hundred yards to a campsite away from the road or maybe transport by ATV or horse.

With fall hunting camps popping up in the next couple months, this looks like a nice option to heat wall tents on chilly nights. Unfortunately, it won’t deliver until February, in time for some ski camps and cold winter nights.

If you’re interested in picking one up, check out the company’s Kickstarter, where you can buy a stove for about $450.
