It’s a stingray! It’s a tent! It’s a hammock! It’s a…tree tent?
The Stingray ($650) is a 3-person tent with a removable fly sheet and mesh roof. The Stingray has a triple hammock interior, accessed via a floor hatch in the center or front door. It can be pitched on the ground in dry conditions.

The tents are suspended using heavy duty nylon straps and winches. Part hammock, part tent, they allow people to sleep suspended off the ground but still inside. They can hold a maximum load of 880 pounds.
To build a strong suspended platform takes some heavy materials, and the abode weighs in at a hefty 19 pounds.
The floor is made of 240D nylon-polyester composite fabric reinforced with more than 20 meters of seatbelt webbing. Heavy duty, plated, industrial-grade ratchets and straps with a 2.5-ton minimum breaking strength are used to hold the tent in the air.
Update: New Tentsile ‘Vista’ is modular tent in the sky
While an expensive toy for car camping or hanging out in the backyard, the Tentsile Tree Tents Stingray is a pretty cool design that could be a lot of fun on balmy summer nights.
