Climb With A Cause: 500 Hikers, 54 Colorado Peaks

A massive crowd-funding campaign, the ‘Colorado 54’ is positioned to be among the biggest mountain events in Colorado history.

That’s what the organizers hope. The goal is to get 500 people on August 8th to collectively climb all of the state’s 14,000-foot peaks.

Climbers pay a minimum of $50 apiece. Teams are formed for each peak, but these are not guided climbs. You are responsible for yourself and your safety, or that of your group.

The larger cause is a goal of raising money “to help end water poverty for over 1,000 families in Nicaragua,” the organization, Second Mile Water, cites. They will donate a bulk of the money raised toward charity.

“Our great adventure is helping people here live a better story with their lives through social-action events like The Colorado 54,” Second Mile Water notes.

The event is in partnership with Leave No Trace and sponsored by Patagonia Boulder as well as Prana and Newton Running.
