Joe ‘Stringbean’ McConaughy’s Long Trail FKT wasn’t just about hiking fast — it was intentional in many other ways.

In June of 2020, Joe “Stringbean” McConaughy set a wicked new FKT on Vermont’s Long Trail. Now, a year later, you can watch a full documentary surrounding his attempt, along with the inspiration for his FKT, and all the inner workings (and emotions) of what it takes to fast hike a long-distance trail.

In the wake of racial justice movements, McConaughy dedicated his 273-mile effort to Outdoor Afro, a nonprofit that celebrates Black people in the outdoors. He raised over $7,000 for the organization over the course of his FKT attempt.

This film was produced by Michael Dillon in 2021.
