Canvas-wall tents with queen-size bunk beds, wood stoves, and more are coming to Maine state parks.
Maine wants more people to trade a few nights in hotel linens for a weekend in sleeping bags. And to make it happen, the state will partner with glampsite curator Tentrr to install 10 fully equipped sites within the Maine state park system.
The move marks the first such partnership by a state to add fully stocked glamping hubs inside designated camp areas.
“With this partnership, we look forward to providing a new way for people experience our parks as campers, and to maximize the benefits that come with spending time outdoors,” said Amanda Beal, commissioner of the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry (DACF).
“Maine state parks are diverse, and Tentrr campers will want to visit more than one to get the full flavor of Maine,” added Melissa Macaluso, who will oversee the project for DACF.
Tentrr Glampsites in Maine State Parks
Each glamping hub will supplement existing campsites within the parks. At seven parks across the state (full list below), Tentrr will install large canvas tents atop raised platforms. Each tent includes a queen-size cot or bunk, a wood stove, a fire pit, a picnic table, benches, Adirondack chairs, and a Coleman Sun Shower.
Bradbury Mountain State Park will unveil the first open site for Memorial Day weekend. The remaining sites at Rangeley Lake, Camden Hills, Mount Blue, Lamoine, Peaks-Kenny, and Warren Island state parks will launch on the Fourth of July.
