We see a lot of articles about how busy people can find the time to stay fit for their outdoor excursions. But none of the advice has ever been as…practical as the Bike Washing Machine.

Washes Clothes by Pedaling

This stationary bicycle lets users load their dirty laundry in the front wheel well, which has been replaced by a laundry drum. Pedaling the bike rotates the drum to wash your clothes.

Additionally, a built-in generator creates electricity to power the machine. Any excess power is used to either light the display screen or be stored for future use, according to the bike’s designers, who developed the contraption at Dalian Nationalities University in China.

Manual Water Add/Drain?

One catch: there is no indication the bike can be hooked up to your water system to automatically fill and drain. If the bike stands on its own, you may need to add and drain water and detergent for each cycle.

Still, if you’re looking for a way to multitask while training for this summer’s Leadman series – or if you’re just looking for a way to cut down your utility bills – keep an eye out to see if this gets developed and released onto the market.
