You may have seen the photos of a woman pulling a man toward iconic landscapes on Instagram, where the images have earned one photographer hundreds of thousands of fans. I saw and loved them and wanted to know more.
Like so many wonderful things, this photo series started slightly by accident.
Photographer and producer Murad Osmann came up with this clever photo project while documenting travel with his girlfriend Natalie. Slightly annoyed with his constant picture taking she dragged him along to the next site. He kept shooting anyway.
Good idea. The series has helped him grow a following of nearly 450,000 people on Instagram.
I contacted Osmann to learn a little about the project that has featured images from England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bali since he began shooting these in Oct. 2011.
“Me and Natalie were traveling in Barcelona,” Osmann said. “She likes to do a lot of sightseeing when we visit new places. As for me, I am a photo maniac, especially back then when some new and cool apps just came out on iPhone. I was constantly taking pictures with my iPhone and instantly retouching them. That can occupy all my time, therefore Natalie was a bit tired and dragged me forward toward some attraction.”
Osmann continued, “That didn’t stop me from continuing taking photos and I took a photo of her hand behind. After that I took several more and retouched them on my iPhone. We really liked the result and continued doing those photos on the whole Barcelona trip.”
The images inspire some serious wanderlust. It may seem that the duo spends all their time visiting amazing locations, but Osmann said that’s not true. “I work as a producer at a production company and the only free time I have is weekends, therefore the most we go away is for four days,” he said.
