Denver Public Libraries will offer bicycle repair kits for checkout at all 26 branches.
Check out books on bicycle maintenance, then check out a repair kit to put it to use. Starting this month, Denver Public Libraries (DPL) will lend basic bike tools to cardholders.
The initiative marks a partnership between DPL and the Denver Community Active Living Coalition. The two organizations piloted the program at seven branches last year.
According to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment allocated $6,000 in grants to roll out the program at all locations.
Starting this month, all DPL branches will offer the repair kits. Included is a dual-valve pump with pressure gauge, a set of Allen wrenches, an adjustable crescent wrench, tire levers, a patch kit, and Spanish/English instructions.
