From the inspiring to the tragic, ‘Adventure News of the Week’ presents a wrap-up of top news in the world of exploration and adventure.

SUMMITS: Brittney ‘Bert’ Woodrum Finishes Epic 14er Goal. Woodrum began a project back in July to climb all 58 Colorado 14ers in a row — tackling as many peaks as possible every week for 3 months.

But that’s not all, she climbed with a ShelterBox on her back to raise money and awareness for displaced families. She finished her goal this weekend, hiking over 540 miles and over 232,000 feet of elevation.

CLIMB: 64-Year-Old Climbs Grade Record. Last week, Chuck Odette, 64, sent the T-Rex route at Maple Canyon, Utah. At 5.14b, the route was Odette’s hardest to date — and possibly a record. “Oh, hell yes. This smile has been two years in the making,” his wife and climbing partner wrote on Instagram.

BRAND: PrimaLoft Launches Biodegradable Tech With 15 Brand Partners. PrimaLoft debuted its latest sustainable and biodegradable tech, PrimaLoft Bio synthetic insulation, at the Outdoor Retailer Trade Show this past January.

Now, the new material is finally launching in apparel from several brands including 4F, Jack Wolfskin, Norrona, Helly Hansen, and more.

COMP: Annual Tree Climbing Championships Continue Through Pandemic. This past weekend, Traverse City, Michigan, held its annual tree climbing championships. Competitors were judged on their climbing techniques and “poise in the trees,” according to UpNorthLive.

Lucas Drews and Katharine Chornyak took top honors for men and women, respectively. They and the other top finishers will next travel to Copenhagen in 2021 for the International ISA Tree Climbing Championships.
